bottles

The idea for this sequence started in direct opposition to my primary interest and studio practice which is nonobjective painting. Unlike abstract, these paintings are studies of a glass object, less serious, and mostly single-session works where decisions were made toward quick completion. However, the more I painted, the more these paintings began to develop a character, as if the bottles were revealing glimpses of splendor, yet an insight into their used disregard. The oddity and humor of the subject matter, as well as the sheer number captivated me during this series.
